No they're not! Aberaman and Aberdare have separate histories, in the 1920s at least. The former was only in the Welsh League while the latter was in the Football League. I have removed the merge notice for now (as well as renamed this page correctly). Qwghlm 13:26, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not 100% sure at the moment. I've been about to change the FCHD entry back to ENTO Aberaman from ENTO Aberaman Athletic, but then saw a single source (NLP?) talking about ENTO Aberaman Athletic applying for Welsh Premier League status. I don't have any source materials on me at the moment, but I'll try to have a look around this evening. - fchd 13:45, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

OK, now - deep breath. Most of this is sourced to Rejected Vol. 1 by Dave Twydell, published by Yore Publications 1982. In 1926, Football League club Aberdare Athletic merged with Welsh League side Aberaman, with the first team continuing to play in the League as Aberdare Athletic, and the reserves in the Welsh Laegue as Aberdare & Aberaman. After failing to secure re-election to the League in 1927, the club returned to the Southern League, and 12 months later the Aberaman faction split back out. The Aberdare side of the club then folded, and Aberaman were elected to the Welsh League Division One for 1928-29, with a reserve side in the Aberdare Valley League. They continued to the outbreak of the War in 1939. In 1945, a newly reformed Aberaman & Aberdare club was formed, which (again!) split into the two factions 1947, with the Aberdare side only lasting one season. Aberaman had more staying power, and I believe it this club which continues today as ENTO Aberaman. Incidentally, on the website and programme cover, the team is described as "ENTO Aberaman AFC", while the club badge just has "Aberaman Athletic 1892". - fchd 20:02, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
